Holding on to grudges, resentments, wrongs and wounds, is often described as drinking poison and expecting the other person to die. We are told to forgive the other so we can free ourselves. It sounds so simple until you try to do the actual forgiving. Why? Because you don’t know how to actually do forgiveness. Why? Because, if you’re anything like me, no one ever taught you how.
Forgiving is essential to living a contented and happy life. And there are all kinds of really good reasons why we don’t want to forgive. We’ll go over those before we do the ritual. At first you may struggle a bit but as we move through the process you will find a visceral feeling of relief and release.
This particular Ritual of Forgiveness was passed down to me by my guru. It works on many levels to open your mind and heart and then it provides a path—an actual way—to forgive those who have wronged you. And more importantly, to forgive yourself.
You will feel like you’ve laid down all the burdens of the past. The ritual may will leave you feeling a bit raw and vulnerable so plan to give yourself some quiet time afterwards. As you allow the process to work its magic you will feel yourself unburdened—light as a feather. Free.
